El Villarreal quiere mantenerse en la parte alta de la tabla
El Villarreal llega a Sevilla para enfrentarse a un Betis que, a estas alturas de la competición, es el equipo más goleado de LaLiga. Aunque esto no signifique una victoria segura sí que nos muestra uno de los puntos débiles del equipo andaluz. El Villarreal – Qarabag de Europa League suspendido por el Covid-19
El partido que había de celebrarse el pasado jueves 10 de diciembre correspondiente a la última jornada de la fase de grupos del grupo I de la UEFA Europa League tuvo que ser suspendido debido al alto número de positivos de Covid-19 que ha afectado al equipo de Azerbayán.
En el momento de redactar las presentes líneas se desconoce si la UEFA decidirá que el encuentro se dispute en algún momento antes de la llegada de los dieciseisavos de final o se dará definitivamente por cerrada la jornada 6 de la fase de grupos sin que se llegue a disputar el partido. El partido, por otra parte, no afectaba a la clasificación final pues el Villarreal se había segurado matemáticamente la primera plaza del grupo y el Qarabag era definitivamente ultimo, ya sin mayores opciones.

El Villarreal conocerá mañana su rival en dieciseisavos de final de la Europa League
Mañana lunes se realizará en la Casa del Fútbol Europeo de Nyon (Suiza) el sorteo de dieciseisavos de final de la UEFA Europa League. Los amarillos son primeros de grupo y cabeza de serie por lo que, en principio, debería de tocarle alguno de los rivales menos peligrosos. Aún así podría tener que enfrentarse a equipos tan difíciles como el Salzburgo o el Benfica.
La eliminatoria se disputará durante el mes de febrero: el 18 el partido de ida y el 25 del mismo mes la vuelta. El sorteo de octavos de final se llevará a cabo el 26 de febrero.
La final de esta edición tiene previsto disputarse el 26 de mayo en el Gdańsk Stadium de la ciudad de Gdansk (Polonia).
