Nos adentramos en la jornada 8 de la competición y seguimos con el desbarajuste de horarios con jornadas que comienzan en viernes y terminan rozando la medianoche del lunes. Precisamente es al Villarreal, en esta ocasión, al que le toca el «honor» de cerrar la jornada en el primer partido en lunes que disputa esta temporada. La ausencia de público está mitigando lo que supondría para la mayoría de espectadores estos horarios tan extremos. Ya desde antes de que se iniciara este curso futbolístico 20-21 los horarios estuvieron en el centro del debate.
Por una parte el deseo de la LFP de disponer de 4 días de competición con horarios desde el viernes por la noche hasta el lunes, también por la noche. Esta opción incluía partidos matinales, tanto en sábado como en domingo. A la RFEF no le gustaba la idea, entendía que mejor atenerse a las tradicionales jornadas de fin de semana. Y en ese contencioso han estado ambos organismos hasta que el CSD ha tenido que poner cierto orden y, apoyándose también en la petición de una treintena de equipos de primera y segunda división, ha autorizada las jornadas de viernes a lunes, aunque delimitando los partidos de fin de semana siempre en horarios posteriores a las 14:00 horas, intentado apoyar, de esta manera, a los clubes no profesionales que disputan sus torneos mayoritariamente los sábados y domingos por la mañana.
Aunque pudiera parecer lo contrario la batalla parece no haber finalizado. A pesar de la mediación del CSD no es descartable que alguna de las partes lleve la resolución a los tribunales y que un juez decida algo completamente contrario a lo establecido actualmente. El tiempo lo dirá, lo que sí es cierto es que el Villarreal cerrará la jornada 8 de LaLiga 2020-21 y, esperemos, que con el mejor resultado posible frente al Valladolid, un equipo que llega como colista de la competición, con varios jugadores tocados por lesión y con la baja definitiva por sanción de su capitán, Nacho Martí nez, que vio la tarjeta roja en la derrota sufrida por los de Pucela frente al Alavés en la última jornada.
