Llega la jornada 3 de LaLiga y, apenas iniciado el campeonato, nos presenta un interesantísimo Barça-Villarreal. Uno de esos encuentros de los que siempre se extraen conclusiones, en uno u otro sentido. El Villarreal viaja hasta Barcelona tras dos partidos seguidos en casa, uno finalizado con empate y otro con victoria. El Barcelona, por su parte, inicia el campeonato con su enfrentamiento ante el Submarino. La finalización de su temporada, tras la estrepitosa derrota ante el Bayern en la Champions League, ha retrasado dos jornadas su arranque liguero. El estado de forma de los culés es una incógnita, nuevo proyecto, nuevo entrenador pero con innumerables problemas en el seno interno del club hacen que esta sea una temporada extraña para el Barça. Quizá es el momento del Villarreal.
Del resto de partidos de la jornada destacan el Betis-Real Madrid, segundo clasificado contra un Madrid que comenzó el campeonato con un empate a domicilio frente a la Real Sociedad, y el Atlético de Madrid-Granada, primer partido en LaLiga para los colchoneros contra el lider actual del torneo.
