L’Ajuntament de Vila -real ha condemnat els actes vandàlics en el recinte taurí portàtil instal·lat al costat del jardí de Jaume I, que han danyat de manera important la instal·lació, propietat d’una empresa privada. L’alcalde de Vila -real, José Benlloch, s’ha mostrat categòric en reprovar aquestes actituds incíviques “que alteren la convivència a la nostra ciutat” i que “han ocasionat un important perjudici a una empresa que està desenvolupant una activitat legal i autoritzada”. Benlloch ha defensat la “llibertat d’opinió i la sana discrepància en relació a la celebració de festejos taurins” però ha remarcat que “en una societat democràtica no caben aquests comportaments i agressions, que mereixen la nostra total condemna i repulsa”.
L’alcalde ha anunciat que la Policia Local revisarà les càmeres de vigilància de la zona per a intentar localitzar als autors i “serem implacables a l’hora de perseguir als qui han atemptat d’aquesta manera contra una activitat que és completament legal i que compta amb les corresponents autoritzacions per part de la Generalitat, administració competent en matèria de festejos taurins”. Els vàndals han realitzat pintades en l’exterior del recinte i han provocat altres destrosses com a danys en els lavabos químics i en el grup electrogen que subministra electricitat a la instal·lació.
“Som conscients que el bou al carrer té els seus detractors però res justifica aquestes agressions; es tracta d’una tradició molt nostra i d’un sector econòmic que també està patint les conseqüències de la crisi, per la qual cosa l’Ajuntament de Vila -real va mostrar des del primer moment la seua predisposició a acollir festejos taurins, sempre complint amb els protocols per la COVID-19 i amb les autoritzacions de la Generalitat Valenciana”, conclou Benlloch.
